Get Involved

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic and the necessity of a lockdown, we have had to adapt to new ways of working on the Connecting Weardale project from our own homes, sharing common aims at a distance, and developing new ways of communication.

So we invite everyone to join in with our postal project...

Corona Cards: Lockdown Love Letters to Weardale

IMG_0445 copy.JPG

Postcards, letters and small pieces of art that can be sent in the mail have a long history and we want you to take part in our lockdown letters idea. Send us a home-made postcard or write a love letter to Weardale, to celebrate what you love most about living in Weardale.

These can be made from any bits and pieces of things that you have around your home, and can easily use. Postcard size is generally 16cm x 12cm or 7 inches x 5 inches (in old money) and the base for your card can be made from a bit of cereal box or some other kind of packaging that you have available.

Decorate the card to make a background with scraps of paper, newsprint, colours torn from old magazines, bits of tissue or wrapping paper. Then build up the surface with paint, pastels, chalk, coloured pencils, inks, felt pens or mix it all together.

Why not create something from bits of fabric that you can stick or stitch a beautiful bit of landscape onto? Show us your favourite stone wall, trees, vegetables, hens, pigeons, dogs, cottage, shop, horse, sheep, plants, stones, gardens, river view or your home village.

Write some lines, share some words, we want it all!

We want to get everyone sharing and celebrating the beautiful Durham Dales.

Send us a photograph of your work by email to scrapbankrecycled@gmail.com and we'll share them here, as well as on our Facebook and Instagram.

If you have safe access to stamps and a postbox, we would love to have your cards and letters sent through the post to:
